About

A design practice that learned, across four hundred projects, that the right question matters more than the right answer.

APXWorks is the corporate-workspace brand of Rhombic Ventures — built on a decade of discipline at Shades & Shapes Studio. The APX Codex is that discipline, re-engineered for the operational reality of corporate work.

From a design practice to a corporate-workspace brand.

Act one · 2015 – 2025

Ten years at Shades & Shapes Studio.

Shades & Shapes Studio opened in Ahmedabad in November 2015. A small design practice with a methodical, process-led approach uncommon in the sector — and a clear conviction that good design starts with the right questions, not the right references.
In March 2016, the studio settled into its permanent space — a working studio designed to host design reviews and demonstrate the discipline the firm operated by. January 2017 saw the formalisation of Rhombic Ventures Private Limited as the parent company, with SNS registered as a trademark under it.
Over the next decade, the studio delivered four hundred projects across residential interiors, commercial workspaces, retail, and hospitality. The team grew. The methodology sharpened. The processes refined. The conviction held.
Act two · 2026

The case for APXWorks.

By 2025, two patterns were clear. The commercial workspace work had taken on its own operational character — different stakeholders, different cadence, different stakes. The residential and architecture practice had matured into its own discipline, extending into bungalow and society-scale architectural work.
One brand serving both with one positioning had become a constraint. January 2026: APXWorks launched as a focused brand under Rhombic Ventures — dedicated to corporate workspaces, with its own methodology, its own design SOPs, and a clear positioning separate from residential work.
SNS continues as the residential and architecture brand. APXWorks carries the corporate-workspace specialisation forward — with the operating discipline of a ten-year practice behind it. Same parent. Same standards. Two focused brands.

Bespoke processes producing standard outcomes.

"In commercial spaces, designers practise a boutique design process — discussing everything from scratch — and yet arrive at standard, market-ready solutions. Clients pay for bespoke and receive standard with bespoke touches."
This was the pattern the team kept seeing. The process was always claimed as bespoke; the output usually wasn't. Tight deadlines, generic solutions, catalogue finishes — the conversation looked custom, the result didn't.
The residential practice at Shades & Shapes Studio had a different rhythm — an internal framework that surfaced operational reality and theme decisions before the aesthetic conversation began. The same discipline could be re-engineered for corporate, where the cost of ”bespoke that falls into standard” is measured in years of lived workspace dysfunction.
The APX Codex is that re-engineering. Five phases (Decode → Define → Design → Detail → Deliver), sixteen workspace KPIs, and a discipline of surfacing conflicts at Decode rather than discovering them at Detail.

The founder

Ninad Monpara

Founder · APXWorks & Shades & Shapes Studio
"Design discipline rooted in engineering thinking — how things actually work, before how they look."
Ninad's path to design ran through engineering. A mechanical engineer by training, he began his career at Nirma Chemicals in Bhavnagar before stepping into design — first through close apprenticeship, then through projects in his own name, and from November 2015 onward as the founder of Shades & Shapes Studio.
Within the design community, Ninad is known for running an unusually organised studio — process-driven, structured around clear design SOPs, with a working culture that gets repeat clients and referrals. He's also known, simply, as a man of his word: projects delivered as committed, deadlines respected, scope honoured.
APXWorks is the next chapter of that discipline. Same posture, sharper focus — corporate workspaces, treated with the rigour the team has been refining across a decade of work.

A decade of discipline, in five phases.

The practices SNS refined across ten years and four hundred projects became the APX Codex — a five-phase methodology engineered specifically for corporate workspaces.
01

Decode

Read operational reality, surface tensions, draw the stakeholder map.
02

Define

Sign the document committing to tier, adjacencies, finish allocation.
03

Design

Spatial design that resolves Decode tensions — not the brief's surface ask.
04

Detail

Specifications, drawings, BoQ at construction-grade detail.
05

Deliver

Same team executes what they designed — no translation losses.
The Codex isn't a new framework dropped onto a new brand. It's a decade of pattern-recognition, systematised — and re-engineered for the scale and stakeholder complexity of corporate work.

Ten years of delivered work.

Four hundred projects don't make a methodology — but they teach you which methodologies actually hold up. The APX Codex was forged from that.

The structure mirrors the offer. APXWorks builds what APXWorks designs because the design team and the execution team work in the same studio, on the same projects, from the first Decode meeting onward. Same accountability, no handoff layer.

A new home for the work.
